How to kickflip on a skateboard

This guide will hopefully make your understanding of how to execute a kick flip on a skateboard

~

Things needed:
  • Skateboard - Specialty shop - A good skateboard.
  • Flat bottomed shoes - Shoe store - Any skate shoes AKA Vans, DC etc..
  • Flat space of smooth surface, IE concrete, blacktop, etc
  • Ability to overcome small fear of shredding your balls
  • Able to ollie correctly - Ollie tut - Google

~

List explained in more detail
  • Skateboard - Of course, you need a skateboard to execute a skateboard maneuver.
  • Flat bottomed shoes - Best for landing on the board without rolling your ankle.
  • Flat surface - Things such as rocks or small inclines or rolls can easily throw you off balance and cause injury, sand, dirt, gravel, anything as such can jam your wheel and send you flying face first.
  • Ability to overcome small fear of shredding your balls - This is a bit more complicated, the 5th time I attempted a kick flip, I missed kicking the board and the board went vertical in between my legs. It hurt to walk for a while. I've done it many times, it is not very fun for you. Maybe for others.
  • Ability to ollie correctly - If you cannot ollie, kick flipping will be very difficult. It's best to learn this before trying a kick flip.

~

Ok, now you have your requirements, you have your shoes tied nicely, let's get to the real skateboard part!

First off, place your feet like this:

Now, bend your knees down and do the first steps of performing an ollie.
Instead of sliding your foot forward, you slide it quickly off at an angle towards the nose of the board, this is the angle you slide quickly, and downwards.

-NOTE- DO NOT KICK LIKE THE NAME KICK FLIP SUGGESTS YOU DO-- If you kick instead of slide, you can mess up in a number of different ways, one such way is overpowering it, and landing wheels on your foot, and then your whole body wight minus a leg smashing wheels into your fragile toes.

Now, as your coming down, make sure your feet end up landing on the squares of bolts above the trucks, like you would in an ollie.
No picture is needed here, at least it shouldn't.

~

If you've followed these steps correctly, you've done a kick flip, congratulations, BUT, you most likely wont magically be able to master it.

It is a pretty hard trick compared to other starter tricks, it takes a lot of determination and ability to not throw your board at a tree after you failed it over and over again.
I've seen it happen

How to talk to the opposite gender/how to get a date

Before you read on, if you haven't you MUST read 'Physco Cybernetics'

Basically anyone who has trouble talking to the opposite gender I would recommend this book. It isn't about picking up girls or boys, but basically getting your mind right. Anyone who tells themselves that "they suck with girls or boys" has more going on in their head than just not being good with girls. You are telling yourself things which you may not realize and it is holding you back.

"Would you physically crawl up to someone on all fours, BEGGING for their approval and acceptance?"

Probably not, but this is what you are doing mentally when you talk yourself out of approaching or when you get nervous and stressed out when approaching. You need to look at them as a person.

Anyways, good book. Should definitely read it.

Right let's get back to the point of the thread
  • You have to understand the time, effort, mental preparation needed before you can chat up to anyone anywhere.
  • If you only talk to the opposite gender when you know them or they are your friends or you know they will talk to you, you need to EXPAND on your social network.
  • TALK TO EVERYONE, whether they are fat, ugly, nerds, most popular guy/girl in the school, even your teachers
  • The problem with movies these days is that the GUY or GIRL always gets the GUY or GIRL. They make asking a girl/guy for their number or asking them on a date so easy and awkward. THIS IS NEVER TRUE.
  • Also if you HAVE NEVER talked to the opposite gender without knowing them first, don't expect to appear impressive to them at first. You'll most likely look awkward but its normal.
  • Isolate what is troubling you about approaching a person you don't want to.
  • 'Will he/she think im ugly?' Who cares what they think. They aren't important anyway. If they don't want to talk to you, that's their problem, they're missing out on a GREAT opportunity to meet a cool person like you.

Quote:
Just keep trying.
Remember haters are just jealous. You are what you BELIEVE you are.
You can wake up feeling great one morning and feel absolutely shit and ugly the next day. YOUR MOOD AFFECTS the people around you.

Start small

  • Maybe ask the girl/guy you always had a crush on or found attractive a few questions in class? Say hello when you see him/her. Offer to help them when they are stuck.
  • Don't expect them to hate you/love you in the first conversation. They are just getting to know you. Don't act cocky, don't try to be 'cool', don't flirt unless you are experienced, STAY SMALL.
  • Also note, avoid talking to guys or girls a lot on Facebook/MySpace etc and expect them to talk to you with as much interest Irl.
  • If you are a really shy guy/girl, then try talking to a girl/guy YOU FIND REVOLTING. Then you will feel superior (it sounds sad but true with a lot of guys/girls). Once you feel more confident move up the hierachy. Talk to more popular people/attractvie people of the opposite gender more often.
  • Also if you are walking on the street in a mall. WATCH
  • there will always be a few guys/girls starting small chat with the opposite gender. Watch how they do it, if you're close enough listen.

CRUCIAL INFORMATION
  • Never I MEAN NEVER look for prewritten pickup, opening conversation tips.
  • PEOPLE prefer socially active people not a robot spewing internet bullshit.
  • Even if you don't know what the hell to say to the opposite gender, you will improve with practice. Pre-written lines may sound great, but will appear awkward and you will eventually run out of sources. Making your own means you will improve your technique.
  • Also You have to learn how to not be afraid to say ANYTHING to ANY GIRL. DONT HOLD SOMETHING IN because you are afraid you will offend her. BUT DONT GO TOO EXTREME. For example, don't say Nice hiney baby, in your opener, you'll most likely get slapped. If you think she is beautiful however, comment that shes looking good today, she won't frown upon you unless you are some extremely ugly toad, which 99% of us ain't.

Also did you know, the a large MAJORITY of guys/girls who randomly ask an opposite gender for a date/number get rejected on the first go? They will get this.

GO AWAY

SO don't feel alone. Keep trying. Theres billions of people to chat up to. If one shrugs you off who cares.

Thanks for reading, leave a comment and I'm still adding more when i can.

How to run faster and lose weight quickly while running!

INTRO

Running is a skill that'll help you throughout your whole life. Being a good runner increases your physical endurance, lung capacity, strength, and body coordination. Almost every sport involves some sort of running, and if you're a good runner you're going to be a better athlete.

HOW TO BEGIN TRAINING

Depending on your age, you probably have a track team at your school. If you want to become better at running (even if you do many other sports), track is probably the best way to go. If you want to get better on your own, or don't have a team available, of course you can get better by simply training. Running is a skill that you can become very good at even if you have very little starting talent.

Always stretch before running. Why? There are tons of problems you can develop if you don't, such as shin splints, and hip and knee problems. Whether you are interested in becoming a distance/endurance runner (ideal for soccer and basketball players), or a sprinter (ideal for football and baseball players), you should always begin with a warm-up of about a mile (1600 meters or 4 laps around a track). This will help loosen you up to avoid cramping or pulling a muscle. After warming up, take 10 minutes to stretch and relax before you start your workout.

WHAT TO RUN IN/ WHERE TO RUN

When running, you want to make sure that you're wearing running shoes that fit you, and are comfortable. If you don't, it's going to be very painful on your feet, and all that pain is unnecessary if you want to forgo spending $50 on some running shoes. The best brands I can suggest are Asics and Nike,
These are the ones I use, I suggest them:

What clothes you run in isn't as important, just pick a light T-shirt and light shorts (under armor is good), nothing too sweaty or confining.

A school track is a great place to run, but it's pretty boring, I usually prefer to run in the city or my neighborhood, more scenic Just make sure you have a watch and you know where you're going

HOW TO TRAIN:

For sprinters (me), I would suggest a 20-25 minute run either through a neighborhood with not too much traffic; you don't want to stop every 3 seconds for a stoplight, that's not much of a workout . Next, return to your starting point and stretch and relax for about 15 minutes. You should then work on sprinting. I suggest (for short distance runners) to sprint around 200 meters (it's best to do this on a track), then slowly jog for 200, then return, wait 5-10 seconds, and start another 200. You should do about 8 of these if you want to get in good shape.
I drew it out here, should be clear:

Afterwards, stretch for 15 minutes, and do some strength circuts (suchs as 30 sit-ups, then 30 push-ups, something of that nature), and you're done. It's also very helpful to lift weights a bit to get your arm strength up, believe it or not, running requires strength in every part of your body, just make sure you leave a 4-hour gap between running and lifting, or both workouts are going to be stunted .

HEALTH:

Of course continuing this routine is going to make you a much stronger, faster runner, and you're definitely going to feel your speed improve after around 2 weeks of this. It's also a way to lose weight quickly if you're concerned with that. If you begin to have intense shin or hip pain, contact a coach or doctor immediately and stop running. Also, don't pig out on McDonald's right after you run, it cancels the whole thing out. Foods with high fiber such as pastas (without too much grease in them) will give you lasting energy, and are especially good to have near when you're going to be working out. Don't stress over every single calorie, of course you can eat red meat and things like that, but just keep it limited and not too near when you're going to be running. Eating fatty foods right before you run *WILL* give you cramps. Energy bars and things of that nature are great to eat a few minutes before or after you run/work out because they're not very substantial but provide lots of energy. Eat healthy while you're training and your results will be apparent more quickly.

I hope this guide was informative enough and that someone out there learned something or will be inspired. Running is awesome!
